Cambridge PI: Contrary to popular belief, private investigators in the UK don’t have special access to passport, DVLA or other government databases. The average PI has no more access than the everyday citizen. The reason they’re able to find information that others can’t is due to a combination of tenacity, connections and knowing where to look.
The most useful investigative tool is the internet. It provides access to public records, social media profiles, electoral registers and much more.
Another crucial source of information for a PI is surveillance. This is often a last resort when all others avenues have been exhausted.
In the UK, strict Data Protection laws limit the types and quantities of information available to the PI. This means that determination and a good nose need to be the private investigator’s biggest assets.
